Kedarnath Temple Gates to Reopen on April 22 - Latest News

The Kedarnath temple, which serves as one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, will welcome visitors back on April 22. The temple, which resides in Uttarakhand, has maintained its closure since winter started six months ago.

Temple Opening Time and Rituals

The officials announced that the temple gates will open at 8:00 AM on April 22. The reopening time was decided based on the Panchangam and Hindu calendars. Special pujas were performed at the Omkareshwar temple on the occasion of Mahashivratri to mark the preparation.

Char Dham Yatra Schedule

The Char Dham Yatra in the Garhwal Himalayas begins with the reopening of Kedarnath. The yatra will open its other temples according to the following schedule:

  • Badrinath Temple – April 23
  • Gangotri Temple – April 19, on Akshaya Tritiya
  • Yamunotri Temple – April 19, on Akshaya Tritiya

The schedule enables devotees to organize their pilgrimage to the Char Dham shrines which they can visit during the spring season.
