Entry Rules Proposed for Badrinath and Kedarnath Temples
Hindu devotees will be the only people allowed to enter the Badrinath and Kedarnath temples according to upcoming plans. The Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee has proposed restricting access for non-Hindus at these two temples. The proposal will be presented at the committee's upcoming board meeting where members will decide on its approval.
Decision by Temple Committee
The Chairman of the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee, Hemant Dwivedi, confirmed the proposal. He stated that the same rule would apply to other temples managed by the committee. According to him, the aim is to maintain religious traditions at these sites.
A similar restriction has already been implemented at Gangotri Dham. The Sri Gangotri Temple Committee unanimously approved the ban on the entry of non-Hindus at a meeting held on Sunday. After this decision, proposals for Badrinath and Kedarnath were also introduced. The authorities have not revealed the precise date when the new regulations will start to take effect.
Char Dham Yatra and Temple Reopening Dates
The Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand includes the Badrinath and Kedarnath temples. These temples attract lakhs of devotees every year. The Badrinath temple, which remains closed during the winter for about six months, is scheduled to reopen on April 23.
The Gangotri and Yamunotri temples will reopen earlier, on April 19, on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya.
