Ram Charan Says Peddi Highlights Rural Empowerment and Personal Identity
Actor Ram Charan said that Peddi is a film about a young man from a far off region who kind of wrestles with forming his own identity . He also said Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked him about the film during a recent meeting in Delhi, and well , that moment stuck with him.
The movie has Ram Charan in the lead role , and it is directed by Buchi Babu Sana . Janhvi Kapoor plays the female lead and Producer Venkata Satish Kilaru is backing the project . The makers are aiming for a pan-India release on June 4, that’s the plan for now.
For promotions , the cast and crew have been hopping across different cities around the country. On Thursday, the team attended a press conference in Delhi , and there Ram Charan opened up on several things.
Ram Charan , explains the Theme of Peddi
At the event , Ram Charan described Peddi as a narrative that is tightly connected to village life and local culture, not just in one sense but in a broad way.
He said the film captures the vibe of people from villages and tribal belts. In his view, so many capable athletes in India come from exactly these kind of backgrounds. He added that in the past films set in rural areas got solid backing from viewers, and he feels Peddi will keep the same momentum.
Ram Charan also touched on his talk with Prime Minister Modi. He said Modi wanted to understand what is the main core idea behind the movie. Charan replied that the story is about rural empowerment, and how one individual can create a real difference inside a community.
Modi, shared a story about a football village
Ram Charan said Prime Minister Modi shared an incident from a campaign visit to West Bengal.
As per Charan, Modi recalled meeting a group of young men who wore sports jerseys along with traditional clothing . The group apparently came from a remote village. During that exchange, Modi learned that almost four decades earlier , a man named Mohammed from the very same village had represented India in foootball.
Ram Charan said Modi explained, that around 80 percent of the people in that village now play football ,and it really sounded like a small but big shift. The Prime Minister used the example as a kind of proof, that one person’s achievement can nudge an entire community forward
Charan also added that Peddi seems to follow a similar emotional, and social journey ,in a way that feels close
Ram Charan on Preparing for the Role
Ram Charan said he committed himself fully to the character, and worked hard to satisfy the role’s demands, like properly meet them. He also mentioned that he put in complete effort for the performance, and he wanted the character to feel authentic, grounded, and real
Janhvi Kapoor Calls the Film Family-Friendly
Actor Janhvi Kapoor spoke too during the event. She said she felt happy to be part of a film that celebrates Indian roots, and traditions, without making it feel forced. She described Peddi as a movie families can watch together ,plainly and comfortably. She also shared her appreciation for the story’s emotional, and cultural elements
Cast and Team Continue Promotions Ahead of Release
Besides Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor, actors Divyenndu Sharma and Boman Irani attended the Delhi event. Producer Venkata Satish Kilaru was also there, smiling along with everyone. The team is continuing promotional activities, ahead of the film’s nationwide release on June 4.
