28 February (Reuters): The regional governor reported that a drone crashed on Tuesday in an apparent unsuccessful attempt near a natural gas distribution facility southeast of Moscow, 110 kilometres (68 miles) from the centre of the Russian capital. Shortly after the Defense Ministry accused Ukraine of trying two drone strikes in southern Russia overnight, Andrei Vorobyov reported the occurrence close to the town of Kolomna. Attacks within Russia are not officially attributed to Ukraine. Since Russia invaded Ukraine a little over a year ago, if it was behind the Kolomna incident, it would have been its closest attempt at a drone strike against the Russian capital.Russian social media users shared images of a drone's grey metal wreckage laying in a snowdrift at the edge of a wood that was allegedly close to Kolomna. Reuters was unable to quickly confirm the pictures. The drone looked to have been targeting a "civil infrastructure site," but there was no damage, according to Vorobyov. There was no threat to the people, he claimed, and the FSB security agency was handling the matter. Previously, the Defense Ministry charged Ukraine of using attack drones to hit targets in the southern Krasnodar and Adygea regions' civil infrastructure. It claimed that its anti-drone defence systems were to blame for the drones' detour and missed objectives. The two drones "lost control and veered off their intended flying routes."
One landed in a field, while the other missed its intended target after straying from its course," it said. The Ukrainian government did not respond right away. As a drone was noticed hovering overhead, Russian official news media previously reported a fire at an oil facility in the Krasnodar area, around 240 kilometres (150 miles) southeast of the Crimean peninsula. The Defense Ministry said that fighter aircraft drills in Russia's western airspace required the suspension of all flights for an hour on Tuesday morning at St. Petersburg's primary civilian airport. Early in December, Russia claimed that two air sites hundreds of kilometres from Ukraine's battle lines had been the target of three drone assaults, killing three military personnel. On December 26, it said that it had shot down a second Ukrainian drone near one of the air bases, close to the city of Saratov, where Russian strategic nuclear bombers are stationed, and that three more members of the air force had perished.
