Audiences are reconciling with Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the group. Toy Story 5, a new feature film in the iconic animation genre, is in the works, according to Disney. Disney CEO Bob Iger announced the upcoming fifth entry in the renowned Pixar series during the company's Q1 earnings call. Along with the announcement of a new Toy Story film, other animation franchises will get new entries, with Frozen 3 and a new Zootopia feature being confirmed during the call. "Today, I'm delighted to report that sequels to some of our most popular franchises, Toy Story, Frozen, and Zootopia, are in the works from our animation studios," Iger stated during the results call. "We'll have more information about these productions available soon, but this is an excellent illustration of how we're capitalising on our unrivalled brands and franchises."
Toy Story 4 grossed over $1.07 billion worldwide and was nominated for two Academy Awards in 2020, including Best Original Song ("I Can't Let You Throw Yourself Away") by Randy Newman and Best Animated Feature. In terms of the other films mentioned in the announcement, Frozen 2 garnered an Academy Award nomination in 2020 for Best Original Song for "Into the Unknown" and grossed $1.45 billion worldwide.The original film, released in 2013, went on to win two Academy Awards, including Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for "Let It Go." Zootopia grossed $1.02 billion worldwide and was named Best Animated Feature at the 2017 Academy Awards.
