Axis Bank Introduces Aadhaar-Based Mobile Number Update

New Digital Feature for Mobile Number Change

• Axis Bank introduced a new service which allows customers to change their mobile phone number through their existing bank records. The service uses Aadhaar-based face authentication technology which operates through the bank's mobile application.
• Customers can now complete this process online. They do not need to visit a bank branch.

Aadhaar Face Authentication Process

• The system uses a secure verification method. The system interfaces with the Aadhaar database system which UIDAI controls.
• The system records the customer's facial features. The system compares the recorded facial features to the Aadhaar database. The system verifies the customer's identity.
• The process enables both precise and secure identity verification.

Axis Bank became the first Indian bank to provide this particular digital service which customers can use in DIY fashion.

Customers can:

• Update mobile numbers anytime
• Complete the process from any location
• Avoid physical paperwork and branch visits

The process enhances user experience while decreasing time requirements.

Three-Tier Security System

The feature includes a three-step authentication process. The three authentication steps create multiple security protections for the system.

Temporary Transaction Limits

After updating the mobile number:

• Customers need to create a new account on the Axis mobile app
• There will be transaction limits which customers must follow during their first 24 hours
